The Berkeley Cafe has been the scene of many late nights as a popular site for bands to perform and cheap eats. I must have taken this image sometime between 2011- 2013 as the sign depicted here on the side of the building, as well as the awning over the door, are no longer there. The builidng is still standing but is surrounded by leveled lots as Downtown Raleigh makes way for many buildings in the Warehouse District that will tower at 20 stores or more. The fate of The Berkeley is uncertain as the presssures of development loom.
This original watercolor is a big one, measuring 20" h x 16" w. The painting is matted and framed (for an exhibit)  in a whitewashed wood frame.
